ESI enhances VoIP implementation and support

ESI announces the release of Esi-Tools 1.3

Plano, Texas, August 19, 2002 — ESI, an innovative manufacturer of IP telephone systems, has introduced an enhanced version of Esi-Tools, a suite of applications that help customers and resellers support ESI VoIP solutions from pre-sales to post-installation.

Esi-Networx, the most popular application within Esi-Tools, has been enhanced to provide additional support for customers in issues related to the LAN and WAN. It analyzes an existing LAN for any potential problems and then simulates the load of an ESI IP phone system to determine its suitability for an IP installation. Esi-Networx then creates a detailed report that identifies areas requiring network design adjustment prior to the introduction of an ESI phone system. After installation, Esi-Networx can routinely monitor the network’s performance to insure the ongoing quality of voice traffic.

Esi-Tools also offers diagnostic applications specifically for the ESI Remote IP Feature Phone. Esi-Check monitors the link from the Remote IP Feature Phone to an ESI telephone system. It provides users with an unobtrusive way to evaluate jitter, lost packets, latency, and available bandwidths between the two. Esi-Address is a simple application for programming Remote IP Feature Phones.

Esi-Access and Esi-Admin are applications that facilitate the installation and programming of ESI IP Phone systems. In addition to routine programming, Esi-Access has been enhanced to guide the installer through the programming of Esi-Link, ESI’s IP multi-site networking software. Esi-Access allows the programming of every aspect from IP addressing, to remote location name and numbering, to published lamp appearances. Esi-Admin allows the end user access to programming functions such as system speed dials, extension features, message notification options and the programming of Group, Q&A, and Information mailboxes.

“While the line between traditional Interconnects and VARs is quickly becoming blurred, both often feel hampered by the nuances of installing an IP telephone system. Esi-Tools allows them to navigate what might be unfamiliar territory,” said Jason Beckett, ESI’s Senior VP of Sales and Marketing. “ESI is committed to assisting our Resellers in making the transition to IP, by providing the highest quality support available. Esi-Tools is a sophisticated diagnostic tool that no other telephone manufacturer offers — and just one example of our commitment to our Resellers. Even the most seasoned IP professional can benefit from the enhancements that Esi-Tools now offers.”
